In partnership with JTRS, the Apple Learning Institute (ALI) delivers a series of high-quality professional online events to show you how to effectively use Apple technology in education.
The ALI event is a virtual, multi-day learning experience.

Minecraft Virtual Teacher Academy
Cost per delegate - FREE
Time - 17:00-18:00 GMT
Date - 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th May & 1st June (5 weeks every Wednesday)
You’re invited to join expert Minecraft Global Training Partners in a free 5-week online cohort designed to help you master Minecraft: Education Edition and earn your Minecraft Certified Teacher Badge. We will be meeting once a week in May and once in June as we complete the content on the Online Course, the Minecraft Teacher Academy. This cohort model is designed to highlight 2 modules each week, answer questions, and connect with each other to reflect on the material. You will receive a digital badge and join the Minecraft Certified Teacher Community.
- Basic mechanics of downloading, setting up and logging into Minecraft: Education Edition
- In-game play by exploring movement within the game as well as learning the process for placing and breaking blocks
- In-game features to use as tools for assessment and feedback
- The process of creating build challenges utilizing game-based strategies
- Key features of world management and classroom settings
- Tips on classroom management and readiness
- An understanding of basic in-game coding
- Skills that allow for learner collaboration, creativity, and communication
- How to incorporate engineering practices

By taking part and completing this course, you will discover how combining the use of mobile technology, such as iPads, with traditional teaching methods and skills, can act as a catalyst for the development of literacy skills within the classroom.
You will take a deep dive into the writing process where we combine the theory, and the practical, to help you raise standards in both Oracy and Writing within your class. You will be introduced to several iPad based applications which will make you want to explore their use even further in your classroom.
- To understand how the use of technology, aligned to outstanding pedagogy, can provide enhanced teaching and learning opportunities to help develop key literacy skills within the classroom.
- An understanding of how Oracy and Writing levels are directly linked and that they can be developed by the opportunities we, as teachers, provide through talk.
