Support for individuals looking to move back into work

Employability Skills Programme

The Employability Skills Programme in Wales is designed to help people who are currently unemployed to develop the confidence, knowledge and practical abilities needed to progress into employment. The programme focuses on building essential workplace skills that employers value, helping individuals prepare for job opportunities across a wide range of sectors.

What is the Employability Skills Programme?

Delivered on behalf of the Welsh Government, the Employability Skills Programme provides unemployed individuals with access to personalised training that supports their journey back into work.

It focuses on developing essential employability skills such as communication, teamwork, problem solving and digital capability.

The programme also helps learners understand workplace expectations, improve their job search techniques and build confidence in applying for roles. It is designed to support people at different stages of their employment journey, whether they are returning to work, changing direction or looking to strengthen their skills.

Throughout this programme, we provide tailored employability support by identifying existing skills and finding opportunities that match. This support includes:

  • 1:1 coaching
  • Group workshops
  • Tailored progression plans
  • Employer referrals

This programme is completely voluntary and is funded by the Welsh Government, providing expert employment support at no cost to the individual.

You may be eligible for the programme if you are:

  • Aged 18 or over
  • Unemployed
