Funding support for employers across Wales

Flexible Skills Programme

The Flexible Skills Programme offers employers in Wales the opportunity to access accredited training for their staff. It is designed to help organisations develop the internal skills required to remain competitive and respond to emerging opportunities.

Employers can receive a 50% funding contribution towards eligible training. For programmes related to artificial intelligence (AI), the funding contribution increases to 75%. This support enables Welsh businesses to invest in the skills they need while reducing the financial impact of upskilling staff.

What is the Flexible Skills Programme?

The Flexible Skills Programme is a Welsh Government initiative designed to help businesses in Wales build a stronger, more skilled workforce.

It provides access to high‑quality, part‑time training that supports business growth, improves productivity and helps organisations respond to changing industry demands. Businesses can receive funding for up to 50% of accredited training costs, with a maximum contribution value of £50,000 per application. There is no minimum funding limit and multiple applications can be made in the same year.

The programme focuses on priority skill areas identified by Welsh Government, ensuring that the training provided aligns with the needs of the Welsh economy. The Flexible Skills Training must clearly contribute to improving relevant skills for your specific business. All training is delivered flexibly by experienced tutors, allowing employees to learn while still continuing in their daily roles.

Your business may be eligible for the Flexible Skills Programme if:

  • Your business is based in Wales
  • Your business is solvent
  • You can commit to release staff to undertake the requested training by the end of March 2027
