Kelly Chatfield recently completed her Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification while working as a teaching assistant at Meadowlane Primary School.
Kelly described the experience as an enjoyable and positive one, supporting her to better understand her role and how she can support both the teacher and pupils more effectively within the classroom.
Throughout the course, Kelly developed her knowledge across key areas including safeguarding, supporting children with additional learning needs, and promoting positive behaviour. She highlighted how valuable it was to be able to apply what she was learning directly to her day-to-day work, helping her to put theory into practice and strengthen her confidence in the classroom.
Kelly also spoke positively about the support she received from her trainer coach, Chloe, throughout the qualification. Regular feedback from Chloe supported Kelly to improve her work over time, and she felt encouraged and well supported as she progressed through her assignments.
Overall, completing the Level 3 qualification has had a positive impact on Kelly’s practice, helping her to feel more confident in her role as a teaching assistant. She would recommend the course to anyone working in a school who wants to develop their skills and knowledge further.
