Aarti Jadhav completed the Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification while working as a Teaching Assistant at St. Therese’s Primary School in Port Talbot.
Aarti first learned about the qualification when it was shared with the school team by the Headteacher. Although she already held wider qualifications, she did not have a focused qualification in the field of education and felt the course would be beneficial for her role.
The qualification has helped Aarti carry out her daily duties more effectively and has enabled her to provide better support to the learners in her class. As she had no previous formal training in education, the course provided valuable guidance and helped her develop a clearer understanding of her responsibilities, expectations and best practice.
Aarti found that the learning had a direct impact on her work in the classroom. It helped her manage children’s behaviour more effectively, increased her confidence when supporting teachers and strengthened her ability to support learners.
Aarti also spoke highly of the support she received from her Trainer Coach throughout the qualification. She described her coach as patient and helpful with assignments, providing the guidance, support and motivation she needed to continue progressing through the course.
She was equally grateful for the support provided by her school. Her Headteacher and teacher gave her the time she needed to complete assignments, helped plan observations and supported her throughout her learning journey.
Overall, Aarti would recommend the qualification to others. While she found the course intensive at times, she believes the experience was worthwhile and felt proud of her achievement when she completed it. She also highlighted the Gradu8 ceremony as a memorable part of the experience, which she and her family thoroughly enjoyed.
