When Ysgol Gymraeg Dewi Sant were looking for some further training and CPD for a member of staff, Roy Llewelyn, they turned to Aspire 2Be to discover the solutions available to them.
Upon reviewing the needs and areas of consideration for Roy, it quickly became apparent that something offering a digital focus was the best fit. This would serve to enhance and develop their pre-existing skills, whilst growing competence in the use of wider digital tools and solutions. The aim of this was to benefit both Roy and the school in their digital development. The cost element was also important, with budgets being stretched across most schools in Wales, a cost effective solution was needed!
Although the term ‘apprenticeship’ may not be what would immediately spring to mind for CPD, the A2B range of apprenticeships – Level Up Professional Learning Qualifications – were the best fit for both the school and Roy. These professional qualifications are free for learners in Wales, so there was zero cost involved for both the school and the member of staff.
The course content was also a great match for the outcomes required – the Digital Learning Practitioner (DLP) qualification is a level 3 qualification, which focuses on providing educators with the skills, knowledge, and competence to ensure their learners can engage with a range of accessible and innovative digital learning experiences. This is a fully accredited, recognised certification, and so provides real value for the learner.
