After months of build up, a virtual Minecraft competition, facilitated by Aspire 2Be was held at the end of February and featured schools from across South West Wales embracing a theme of Sustainability, whilst utilising Minecraft for Education.
Led by Minecraft Global Ambassador & Trainer, Dean Garza, each participating school from across the RSLP regions (Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Swansea & Neath Port Talbot) tuned in virtually to learn about the challenge that was ahead of them!
Over the three subsequent days, teams of four pupils showcased their creativity and ingenuity within the Minecraft universe whilst developing their own understanding and knowledge of the Net Zero agenda in Wales.
Upon the conclusion of the submission phase, all entries were diligently reviewed during a judging phase held on Friday, March 1st, 2024. The anticipation was no doubt mounting as each school awaited notification of the results, eager to discover the recipients of the coveted prizes!
The overall winners of the competition were a team from Furnace Primary School, Llanelli with regional winners also selected from across the four local authorities.
“We are thrilled by the enthusiasm and dedication demonstrated by all participating teams throughout the Champions of Champions Challenge, huge congratulations to everyone who participated,” remarked Dean Garza. “The level of creativity and skill exhibited by the teams from each school is evidence of how powerful the training opportunity for staff was. The impact has been excellent!”
The Champions of Champions Challenge has not only fostered a spirit of collaboration and innovation but has also celebrated the training completed by the staff involved at each school. As part of the project’s legacy, the training each school received is now available, bilingually, free of charge to staff working in Wales, here. Simply register for access to all four training sessions here.
