The BCS foundation Certificate in Information Security and Management Principles - Level 3 is an accredited short course designed to provide a basic introduction to architecture solutions.


Accredited by BCS, this short programme delivers a recognised qualification at Foundation.

Throughout the course, you will explore real-world scenarios and complete guided activities that support confident application of new knowledge and skills around the fundamentals of IT architecture. Guided by expert Aspire 2Be tutors, this course offers flexible delivery to suit your role and schedule.
 
The course will help you to understand what IT architecture is, how it supports business-IT alignment, and the key domains, artefacts and activities used in practice. During the programme, you will build evidence of competence and reflect on how to embed learning working environments.
 
By the end of the course you will have a basic understanding of IT architecture and be able to demonstrate your knowledge through an accredited certificate.

  • The meaning of IT architecture and the different levels within it
  • Different kinds of IT architects and the roles they play in IT and information systems
  • How architecture fits into the broader business context
  • Architecture precursors: goals, directives, and constraints
  • Architecture development process and description frameworks
  • The subdomains of enterprise and solution architecture, and their purpose
  • The key activities carried out in each subdomain, and the related artefacts

Assessment is completed through an externally set multiple-choice examination, aligned to the awarding body syllabus. You will complete guided preparation and practice questions before sitting the exam. Successful completion leads to an accredited certificate.
