The Gateway Award in Cyber Security is an accredited short course at either level 1 or 2 designed to provide learners with valuable knowledge and skills within Cyber Security.
Accredited by Gateway Qualifications, the programme provides a recognised qualification at Level 1 or Level 2.
Across both Level 1 and Level 2, you will develop practical cyber security skills through real-world scenarios and guided activities. Supported by expert tutors and flexible delivery to suit your role and schedule, you will build evidence of your competence as you progress.
You will gain an understanding of key cyber security concepts, including security threats, vulnerabilities, and the tools and techniques used to protect systems and data. Topics also include ethical hacking principles, user access control, and legal and ethical considerations.
At Level 2, you will further strengthen your ability to confidently apply your knowledge and embed cyber security practices within your organisation.
By the end of either course, you will have improved your confidence and be able to demonstrate your progress through an accredited certificate.

- Understand security protection and risk management issues
- Vulnerabilities
- Understanding measures to protect IT systems and data from current and evolving threats, implementing measures to protect IT systems and data
- Understanding current legal and ethical requirements, and IT security policies and procedures
Assessment is designed to be practical and focused on applying learning in real situations. You will complete guided activities and build evidence of your skills and understanding, supported by tutor feedback throughout. You will develop a portfolio of evidence to showcase your knowledge and competency to obtain certification.
